The "Large Dollar Unit" of the IRS

If you are one of the unlucky ones who owes more than $100,000 in personal income taxes, you may just be assigned to the "Large Dollar Unit" of IRS collections. This office, based in Long Island, New York, handles high volumes of cases that don't get assigned to a local Revenue Officer (which many large cases also do.) This office was previously based in Buffalo, NY. While it sucks to owe 100k plus, the large dollar unit is NOT so bad: they are very very slow at working cases and that just may be to your benefit.I have had at least three cases in the last couple months that seem to drag on and on in that division. At least, my clients don't suffer wage or bank levies while the molasses drips! One thing is for sure: this division wants a lot of detail before they resolve your case. Be prepared to get your a) bank statements b) medical expense proof ....virtually anything that will prove you're spending your hard-earned money.

Who can you recommend to deal with these people here in Hollywood, CA or surrounding area? I want to sit down with someone on this.

Thanks

If you insist on hiring someone local in Los Angeles County: I would recommend Tax Resolution Services in Encino, CA. I would really avoid everybody else: LA has a lot of scammish companies.
